Actress Kinza Hashmi has spoken out for the first time about a viral incident involving actor Ali Raza and a fan at a public meet and greet event, defending her colleague while drawing attention to the right to personal space.

A video from the event circulated widely online, showing Ali Raza pushing a male fan away from Hashmi as a large crowd gathered around her for photographs.

The fan later posted a video claiming Ali Raza had insulted and humiliated him, which intensified the debate on social media.

Hashmi addressed the incident directly through a series of Instagram Stories.

“I usually stay quiet on things like this but I think this needs to be cleared once and for all,” she wrote.

She acknowledged that the event was a meet and greet but said that did not give anyone permission to invade her space. “About the event incident that’s going viral, yes, it was a meet and greet but that does not mean anyone has the right to come extremely close to me or any other female and make them feel uncomfortable,” she wrote.

She added, “A lot of men were there, who asked for pictures respectfully and maintained boundaries. Only one person crossed that line.”

Hashmi explained that Ali Raza stepped in the moment she felt uncomfortable. “The moment he came too close and I got uncomfortable, Ali Raza noticed it immediately reacted,” she wrote.

“Perhaps this could have been handled in a better way but his reaction came from a protective instinct to make me feel safe in that moment. There was absolutely no intention to insult or humiliate anyone,” she added.

She also pushed back against the idea that public figures forfeit their right to personal boundaries. “Just because a woman is a public figure does not mean she stops deserving personal space or the right to feel uncomfortable. Please don’t normalize crossing boundaries,” she wrote.

Hashmi also asked the public not to judge Ali Raza based on a single moment. “I’ve always seen Ali Raza treat his fans with love and respect. He genuinely values them and always tries to make them feel special. One moment from a crowded situation should not define his entire nature or intentions,” she wrote.

Social media users remain divided, with some backing Hashmi’s stance on boundaries and others arguing that public figures should handle fan interactions with more care.
