We finally have our first look at the upcoming star-studded film Sheroes, with its three stars, Kinza Hashmi, Zara Noor Abbas and Ushna Shah, each leading one of three separate stories.
The trailer was released on Sunday by Sindh Films, a filmmaking initiative run by the Government of Sindh, which made the movie in collaboration with Geo Films. The film will have a nationwide theatrical release on September 18.
Hashmi’s character starts off the teaser with an Urdu translation of the old saying, “A lie will go round the world while truth is putting its boots on.” She is seated in an art gallery as paintings, possibly fakes, are sold off.
The scene then shifts to a visibly stressed Abbas, who plays a cop, defusing a bomb. Then comes a montage of clips of Shah, a boxer, training and then taking on an opponent in the ring.
Abbas is shown driving fast cars, arriving at a police station on a motorbike wearing a leather jacket, and shooting at bad guys. Hashmi is being applauded by patrons at the gallery while Shah fights and trains.
The trailer’s description confirmed the film will be an anthology with “three completely standalone stories.”
Sheroes has been directed by Saqib Khan and Badar Mehmood. Mohsin Ali, Hashim Nadeem and Amna Mufti worked on the project as writers, and it is produced by Imran Hussain.
The film follows hot on the heels of Sindh Films’ last major release, Mera Lyari, which released in May. Like Sheroes, Mera Lyari also had strong female leads, with Ayesha Omar playing a football coach training girls in Lyari and Dananeer Mobeen playing her protege, who has to battle family pressure to play the game.
