A motorcyclist sustained minor injuries after a kite string wrapped around his neck while he was travelling on Lahore’s Mughalpura Flyover, prompting the city police to order legal action against the culprits.
According to a police spokesperson, the injured man was identified as Muhammad Haris.
The spokesperson said Haris was passing over the flyover when a loose kite string became entangled around his neck, leaving him with minor wounds.
DIG Operations Faisal Kamran took notice of the incident and directed police to take strict legal action against those responsible, according to the spokesperson.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Civil Lines Manza Karamat said police operations against violations of the Punjab government’s SOPs governing kite flying were continuing.
Karamat said the crackdown against kite flying and the sale of kites had also been intensified across the division.
Police data showed that 40 cases were registered in the Civil Lines Division during September over violations linked to kite flying.
More than 85 suspects were arrested during the same period, according to police.
Earlier, Punjab Police said thousands of people had been arrested across the province during the year for violating the Anti-Kite Flying Act, while authorities had also seized large quantities of kites and kite string.
