A Lahore-based businessman, who was kidnapped by armed men during a home invasion, remains missing a week later as multiple law enforcement agencies have also denied having him in custody.
Syed Masood Hassan Rizvi, a resident of Valencia Town, was allegedly kidnapped by armed men during a late-night intrusion at his home on April 1. The case was registered with Kahna police under Section 365 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), which pertains to kidnapping or abduction with intent to secretly and wrongfully confine a person.
While officials from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Punjab Police and the Crime Control Department (CCD) have clarified that Rizvi is not in their custody, this marks the second time in six months that he has gone missing.
In October 2025, Rizvi had disappeared for about a week before reappearing. At the time, his family was informed that he had been in the custody of Factory Area police in connection with a monetary dispute. He was released after securing bail from the high court.
In the latest incident, Rizvi’s wife, Sumera Syed, said that she was having dinner with her husband and their son at around 11 pm when armed men entered their home.
She told police that around 10 individuals scaled the outer wall and forced their way inside. “One of them was in Elite Force uniform while the others were wearing masks,” she said in her complaint, adding that several of the suspects were also dressed in some kind of uniforms and were carrying weapons.
According to the FIR [First Information Report], the intruders held the family at gunpoint, including their son, who was in a wheelchair. Sumera alleged that the attackers also subjected her and her husband to assault.
She said that the suspects took gold jewellery she was wearing, along with mobile phones, laptops and cash. Household documents, including identification papers and property records, were also taken.
Sumera further stated that her elder son came back home as the incident unfolded, and was also held at gunpoint after entering the house.
After collecting the items, the suspects took Rizvi outside and shoved him into a vehicle before leaving the scene, she said.
Police were informed through the emergency helpline, after which officers visited the house. Attempts to review security footage were unsuccessful as the digital video recorder had been taken by the suspects.
Further probe is underway.
