The “Big Boss” behind the abduction and sexual assault of two foreign women in Lahore has been unmasked after he fractured his legs by jumping from a building to evade arrest, it has emerged.
The suspect, described as a “notorious goon” who allegedly offered his services like kidnapping for ransom, was reported to have operated behind the scenes by giving instructions to other suspects over the phone.
He was cornered on Saturday during a raid at his rented villa hideout in DHA Phase 9, reports said.
It was reported that when police arrived at the house, the suspect supposedly jumped off the second floor, surviving with multiple fractures.
During a brief interrogation in an injured condition, he told the police that he had played a “major role” in managing the private security staff to execute the plan against the foreign women.
The police also obtained the record of his conversations with the alleged rapists among other suspects from his phone, which confirmed that he was acting as the “big boss” as described by the women in their testimony.
While officials are yet to release further details, journalist Gharidah Farooqi has claimed on X that the suspect, identified as Mian Waheed Tahir, belongs to Okara, and has a criminal record.
Her investigation exposed the suspect as a crystal meth addict heavily involved in “illegal kidney transplantation, murder and police encounters”.
She further claimed that his personal gunmen tortured the victims and another suspect Tahir threatened to “sell all their organs” if a $1.5 million ransom was not paid.
The claims came shortly after laboratory results, in major breakthrough, confirmed that the DNA samples of three out of eight arrested suspects had matched evidence collected from the survivors.
Police sources confirmed the matches belong to the prime suspect, Nawaz, alleged to have initiated the sexual assault and two accomplices, Sajid and Sikandar, while the remaining samples undergo further evaluation.
