A 26-year-old man from Manawan has reportedly been kidnapped by two of his own friends, according to police, with netizens expressing mixed reactions to the incident.

Police have said that the kidnappers sent Taimoor’s family a picture showing him with his hands and feet tied up, demanding a ransom of Rs1.5 million.

A video allegedly showing him being tortured also surfaced online while an audio call was reportedly used to warn his family against informing the police.

According to Lahore police, the case took a turn when investigators found that two of Taimoor’s friends were involved in the kidnapping. Police traced the suspects through CCTV footage and other sources and recovered Taimoor from Faisalabad.

A case was registered against unknown kidnappers on the complaint of Taimoor’s wife. Police later took the accused into custody and said that further investigation was underway.

The case has since drawn multiple reactions on social media, with many users questioning how someone could be kidnapped by people they considered friends.

“What’s happening in Pakistan? It wasn’t like this before,” one user wrote.

Others warned people about trusting friends, with one comment saying, “These days, killers are often friends themselves. Please beware of your friends.”

Some users also raised questions about Taimoor’s possible involvement in the kidnapping, although police have not confirmed such an angle from the police. One user wrote that it was later revealed that “Maybe Taimoor was also involved in his own kidnapping.”

Several comments focused on the fact that Taimoor was recovered alive. “Thank God they didn’t kill him,” one person commented, while another wrote, “Thank God he wasn’t killed.”

Others questioned the state of law and order, with one user saying, “There is no law and order.”

The incident also prompted comments about trust, with social media users saying they could no longer know who to rely on. “Who can we trust when things have come to this? We cannot trust anyone,” one comment read.

Another user wrote, “Apart from parents, no one is truly yours.”
