A man allegedly shot his wife dead before taking his own life following a minor argument in Lahore’s Ichhra area, police have said.

The man was identified as Rehan Latif while his wife was named Mahwish.

Residents of the neighbourhood told police they heard the couple arguing shortly before gunshots were fired. Initial investigations suggested Rehan shot Mahwish and then died by suicide.

Police reached the scene after receiving information about the incident and launched an investigation into the deaths.

In another similar incident in August, a man allegedly shot and killed his wife and three in-laws after a family dispute in Lahore’s Chung area.

Imran, a resident of Barkat Colony, went to his father-in-law Ali Khan’s house to take his wife, Samia, with him. However, Ali Khan, Samia’s mother Shumaila and her brother Zeeshan reportedly refused to send her with him.

Police said that Imran became enraged over the refusal, pulled out a gun and allegedly shot his wife and the three in-laws dead before killing himself.

Police reached the scene and shifted the bodies to a morgue for autopsies.
