A woman has been arrested for allegedly setting three people on fire near the Sabzazar Orange Line Train Station in Lahore.

The suspect, identified as Sheela alias “Sherni”, allegedly doused a woman named Sana, a man named Ilyas and a child named Abdullah before setting them ablaze.

All three sustained burn injuries and were shifted to a hospital for medical treatment. A spokesperson for the Operations deputy inspector general of police (DIG) said that all three victims were in stable condition.

Sheela fled the scene after the attack but was later identified and arrested. Investigators noted that preliminary information suggests she is a drug addict.

While a case has been registered against her, in other crime news from the provincial capital, Ring Road Police arrested a man for posing as a deputy director of the Crime Control Department (CCD).

Fake ID cards, official-style vehicle number plate and an electric shock device were recovered from his possession.

Separately, a dismissed police officer identified as Faisal Pervez alias “Hanan Champion” was arrested near Bhatta Chowk for wearing a police uniform and presenting himself as a serving officer on social media.

Cases have been registered against both the accused.
