Lahore police have arrested a madrassa teacher for striking a boy in the eye with a stick.

Police identified the accused as Qari Abdul Wahid. Initial information suggests the injury has affected about 80 percent of the student’s vision.

The boy’s father said his son came home frightened from the madrassa with a badly injured eye. He alleged that the teacher had threatened the boy not to tell anyone what happened.

Police registered a case against the teacher under Section 328-A at the father’s request. A police spokesperson said officers acted as soon as they received the information and arrested the suspect within a few hours. Lahore Police also confirmed the arrest on its official X account, stating that an investigation is going on.

DIG Operations Faisal Kamran said, “Incidents of violence against children will not be tolerated. Under the zero-tolerance policy, we will stop every hand raised against women and children.”
