Mahira Khan thanks  ‘Aag Lagay Basti Mein’ team as film crosses Rs420m worldwide

Riding on the successful box office run of the Eidul Fitr release Aag Lagay Basti Mein, Mahira Khan has penned a loving note for the crew as the movie crosses Rs420 million worldwide. 

 

The A-lister has shared heartfelt gratitude for the team of the film which stars her in the lead role alongside Fahad Mustafa. 

 

The film has earned over Rs260 million in Pakistan and Rs160 million internationally as of March 30, marking one of the highest opening weeks for an Eidul Fitr release.

 

In a post on Instagram, Khan began by acknowledging the film’s writer and director, Bilal Atif Khan. She recalled her first reaction to the script, writing, “I was listening with my eyes wide open, laughing while he narrated it.”

 

She added that she initially declined the role, saying, “I can’t do this, no one will believe it or want to believe it,” but said that the director insisted she was right for the part.

 

Khan also mentioned members of her team, including stylist Babar Zaheer and manager Anushay Khan, thanking them for their work and support. She acknowledged art director Hira M Saad and director of photography Abid Rizvi, along with creative director Salman Noorani, referring to a heist sequence and writing, “mannn oh man, how cool was that”.

 

Addressing the cast, she wrote, “We shine better because of all of you,” while also naming co-stars Tabish Hashmi and Javed Sheikh, adding that it was “an honour” to share the screen with Sheikh.

 

She also mentioned co-producer Dr Ali Kazmi for his work behind the scenes, along with assistant directors, technicians, spot staff, drivers, wardrobe assistants and guards.

 

Khan ended her note by addressing her co-star and the film’s producer, Fahad Mustafa. She thanked him for “having the guts to make this film”, “having a heart big enough to give space for everyone to shine” and “being a co-actor who elevates everyone around them”.

 

She also thanked audiences, writing that they were responsible “for making this little baby such a big success”.

 

Aag Lagay Basti Mein is currently in its third week in cinemas in Pakistan and has also been released in the United States, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Canada, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman.
