An additional district and sessions judge has sentenced Farrukh Khokhar, the main accused in the Majid Satti murder case, to life in prison.
As per the details, Judge Afshan Ejaz Safi announced the verdict, following which Khokhar was arrested from the courtroom.
The court also ordered his transfer to Adiala Jail under tight security.
Earlier, Khokhar’s co-accused Ameer Hamza and Haider Nawaz also received life sentences. All three convicts were also served fines worth Rs1 million each.
“I have been wrongly sentenced. I was not present at the scene,” Khokhar said after the verdict was announced.
Khokhar added that he had told his lawyers to challenge the judgement, calling the verdict “an act of revenge”.
Majid Satti was murdered on August 23, 2022, prompting the registration of a case at the Sadiqabad police station in Rawalpindi.
Satti, a member of the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI), was reportedly killed for resisting a land grab attempt.
