Police in Peshawar have arrested an Afghan national accused of digging up graves and desecrating the bodies of children in the city’s Budh Bair area.
Local residents caught the man red handed after he exhumed a child’s body, and beat him up before handing him over to police.
According to reports, the suspect is a hafiz of the Quran and has also passed the 12th grade standard education.
Police said that the man had previously dug up four other graves and allegedly desecrated the bodies of children he removed from them.
Videos of the scene, showing the suspect being beaten up by a few men, with the body of a toddler lying nearby, had gone viral on Monday.
