In a similar incident in Multan, a man allegedly shot dead his wife and injured his mother-in-law during a dispute at his wife’s parents’ home.
The incident took place in the Grid Station area on Vehari Road, within the jurisdiction of Seetal Mari police station. Multan City Police Officer (CPO) Sadiq Ali Dogar said that the suspect, identified as Naeem, had gone to the house to pick up his child when an argument broke out between him and his wife Amna Bibi.
Dogar said that the dispute was linked to Naeem’s unemployment. He said that Amna had also filed a Khula case against Naeem, which was pending in court. Police also received reports of substance abuse involving Naeem, which they will verify after his arrest.
According to Dogar, Naeem opened fire during the argument, killing Amna. He also shot her mother, Abida Bibi, who was outside the house. She sustained two bullet wounds near her abdomen and was shifted to a hospital in critical condition.
Police traced Naeem after he fled the scene and sent teams to two or three locations to arrest him. CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced, showing the shooting taking place in broad daylight.
