A domestic dispute in the Mamunkanjan area of Faisalabad has resulted in the death of two young boys after their grandfather allegedly attacked them with a cleaver, police officials have stated.
The suspect, identified by police as 55-year-old Shah Muhammad, engaged in a verbal altercation with his family before the incident occurred. Police reported that the argument began over his six-year-old grandson Adeel and five-year-old grandson Nabeel not offering regular prayers.
During the confrontation with his 50-year-old wife Ayesha Bibi and his daughter-in-law Humaira Bibi, Shah Muhammad retrieved a cleaver and struck both children. Police confirmed that Adeel and Nabeel suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Both women also sustained injuries during the attack.
Area residents intervened and detained Shah Muhammad before police reached the site. Members of the public physically assaulted the suspect while holding him.
A police contingent led by Superintendent of Police (SP) Saddar Division Saeed Ahmed Sial, alongside the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Station House Officer (SHO) Mamunkanjan Tariq Ameer, arrived at the location to take control of the situation.
Officers placed Shah Muhammad under arrest and seized the cleaver used in the attack from the premises.
