A man has been killed by his second wife in Sargodha after he married for a third time, with the woman later taking her own life, according to police.

The incident took place in Kot Momin, an area on the outskirts of Sargodha, where the bodies of the husband and wife were found inside their home.

A spokesperson for the District Police Officer (DPO) said that an initial investigation had been completed. Authorities were continuing efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding both deaths.

The man had contracted a third marriage about a week before the killing, police reported.

His second wife allegedly attacked him while he was asleep, striking him on the head with a wooden leg of a charpoy, a traditional South Asian woven bed.

The woman then took her own life, according to the DPO’s spokesperson.

Police also reported that the man had divorced his first wife before marrying his second wife and later entering into his third marriage.

Authorities were alerted after information was received about the deaths at the couple’s home in Kot Momin.

The findings form part of the preliminary investigation, while further proceedings are expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

No further details about the identities of the deceased or the circumstances of the woman’s death were provided by police.
