A man in Faisalabad’s Sahianwala area has allegedly killed a two-year-old boy after abducting him along with his four-year-old brother over their mother’s refusal to marry him.

According to police, the suspect, identified as Haris, took the two children away from their maternal grandparents’ village on the pretext of buying them food.

He then took them to a canal outside the village where he attacked the younger child with a sharp-edged weapon. The deceased was identified as Zohan, while his elder brother, Roohaan, managed to escape.

The family had travelled to village 131-RB in Sahianwala where the children’s mother, Bushra Bibi, was staying at her parents’ house. She has been married to a resident of Chiniot for the past six years.

Police have registered a FIR [First Information Report] against Haris on the complaint of Bushra’s husband and initiated legal proceedings.

The FIR stated that Haris had repeatedly been harassing Bushra and threatened to kill her children if she did not divorce her husband and marry him.

Police have formed teams to arrest the suspect and said that efforts to arrest him are underway.
