Punjab Police have arrested a suspected robber, wanted in over 50 cases, following an encounter near Sui Asal in Lahore’s Kahna area.
The incident occurred during a snap checking exercise. According to police officials, a team at a checkpoint signaled three men on a motorcycle to stop. Instead of complying, the suspects attempted to flee and opened fire on the police.
During the ensuing exchange of gunfire, one suspect was injured.
Police reported that the man was hit by bullets fired by his own accomplices. While the injured suspect fell from the motorcycle and was taken into custody, the other two individuals managed to escape the scene.
Authorities identified the arrested man as Allah Wasaya, a resident of Halloki. Following the arrest, officials recovered a weapon from his possession.
Wasaya was shifted to Lahore General Hospital for medical treatment.
“Search operations are under way to arrest the fleeing accomplices,” police stated regarding the ongoing investigation.
