A medical board examining Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan at Adiala Jail on August 10 recorded his anxiety level at three-plus and recommended measures including daily exercise and greater access to family and reading material.

According to a medical report that surfaced on Tuesday, the four-member board, constituted by the federal government, included Dr Farqad Alamgir, who was called from London for Khan’s treatment, as well as Dr Arif Khan, Dr Akhtar Ali Bandesha and Dr Ali Arif.

Dr Alamgir has also been involved in recent discussions over Khan’s medical treatment.

The board recommended that Khan be allowed to walk for one hour each day to help manage his blood pressure and anxiety.

It also advised authorities to provide him with access to his family, newspapers, television and books, while recommending more frequent meetings with his wife.

The report recorded Khan’s blood pressure at 140/80 and pulse at 54 beats per minute during the August 10 examination.

It noted that he did not report chest pain, heaviness, shortness of breath or palpitations.

His Electrocardiogram (ECG), which measures the heart’s electrical activity, was normal, while an echocardiogram found no abnormalities in his heart valves or chambers, according to the report.

The examination followed a consultation with cardiologist Dr Bandesha on August 1, when Khan reported fluctuating blood pressure, headaches and anxiety.

His blood pressure was then recorded at 140/100, with a pulse of 50 beats per minute.

Dr Bandesha also recommended greater access to his wife, newspapers and television to help reduce mental stress.

An Adiala jail report submitted to the Supreme Court on August 17 stated that Khan had undergone 39 medical examinations by different specialists between November 2023 and August 10, 2026.

It also reported that his affected eye had almost regained normal vision following treatment for Central Retinal Vein Occlusion (CRVO), a condition that affects blood flow in the retina.

The Supreme Court on August 18 ordered authorities to transfer Khan to Shifa International Hospital for further assessment and treatment and sought his complete medical record.
