Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev has been fined $76,000 (around 20 million Pakistani rupees) for misconduct during a first-round match at the Australian Open.

The 28-year-old Russian got frustrated and hit his racket into the net five times during his first-round win against Thai wildcard Kasidit Samraj on Tuesday.

In his second-round loss to American Learner Tien on Thursday, Medvedev was given a point penalty after throwing his equipment to the side.

He will face a deduction from his prize money for the season's opening Grand Slam.
