Law enforcement agencies recovered an unidentified, missile-like object from a residential plot in Islamabad on Wednesday, triggering a security response and an official investigation into how the item arrived at the site.

Labourers discovered the object while conducting excavation work at a plot in the capital’s I-9 sector. Upon receiving reports of the find, police, Rescue 1122 teams, and the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) were dispatched to the location, which falls under the jurisdiction of the I-9 police station.

Security forces immediately cordoned off the area to prevent civilian access while experts assessed the nature of the object. Following a thorough inspection and the completion of safety protocols, the bomb disposal unit confirmed that the item was inoperative.

Officials subsequently declared the site safe, noting that the object posed no active threat to the surrounding neighbourhood.

The object has been transferred to specialised a security institution for technical and forensic examination. Investigators are currently working to ascertain the type and origin of the device, as well as the circumstances that led to it being buried at a residential construction site.

Authorities have advised residents to exercise caution and notify the police immediately if they encounter any suspicious items, urging the public to avoid physical contact with any such objects while professional teams conduct their inquiries. The investigation is going on as experts process the evidence collected from the scene.
