Former Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir, who now has a British passport, could be putting his name down for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027 auction scheduled for December 16 in Goa, an Indian media outlet has claimed.
According to reports, Amir, who now lives in England, recently registered for the Afghanistan Premier League (APL) and could also be entering the auction for IPL that doesn’t allow Pakistani players owing to the strained ties between the two neighbouring countries.
While Pakistani players have not played in the IPL since the inaugural season, reports claimed that a UK citizen may not need a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to register.
If a franchise signs Amir, he will become the second Pakistan-born player to play in the IPL on a British passport, after Azhar Mahmood, who played in the 2012, 2013 and 2015 seasons.
