Police in Lahore have named a mother as the primary suspect in the murder of her three children in the Ichhra area. The update follows a joint press briefing by DIG Operations and DIG Investigation, where officials detailed the findings of the inquiry into the deaths of five-year-old Mominah Batool, four-year-old Momin Raza, and 18-month-old Umm-e-Habiba.

The children were found with their throats slit inside their residence. While police initially detained the mother Rida, their father, and uncle for questioning, investigators shifted their focus to Rida after identifying contradictions in her statements and analyzing CCTV footage of the house.

According to police, a domestic dispute occurred the night before the murders, involving a heated exchange between Rida and her in-laws. While the childrenโ€™s uncle left the house following the argument, the mother returned to the premises.

Police sources claim Rida purchased the knife used in the stabbings a day prior to the incident.

The DIG Investigation stated that the killings were planned and linked to domestic issues and tensions over divorce.

Officials noted that Rida attempted to mislead the police and divert attention away from herself during the initial stages of the probe.

“The mother is now confirmed to be involved in the planned killing of her children,” the police officer told the press.

Authorities also addressed earlier rumors about the crime scene. The police clarified that claims suggesting that the children were found holding knives were false and have been disproven during the investigation.

Forensic teams recovered blood evidence from a bedroom and bathroom inside the house. While forensive analysis continues, police are investigating all angles to determine the sequence of events.
