A 30-year-old mother of three children was found dead with her throat slit at a house near Malir Jinnah Square, Karachi, with police suspecting that she may have died by suicide.
The body was found on Thursday near Riaz Pan Shop in Aleemabad, within the jurisdiction of Malir City police station.
Police arrived at the house after receiving information along with the crime scene unit to collect evidence.
The woman’s body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities, where doctors identified her as Kanwal, wife of Muhammad Kashan.
Malir City Station House Officer (SHO) Riaz Bhutto said that police found the woman’s body near a washbasin on the first floor of the house. He added that preliminary investigation suggested that she used a knife to slit her throat.
The SHO added that the woman’s mother-in-law was on the ground floor when the incident took place, while her husband and children were not at home.
He also added that her husband sells fritters and samosas.
