Pakistan cricketer Muhammad Rizwan has shared an emotional message for Maaz Sadaqat after watching the young batter represent Pakistan.
Rizwan recalled the day Maaz visited his Peshawar home with his brother Haroon, hoping to play for the national team.
“It feels like yesterday when a young boy came to meet me in my Peshawar home with his brother Haroon, carrying a dream of one day playing for Pakistan,” Rizwan wrote. “There was so much hope in his eyes and determination in his heart.”
Rizwan said that seeing Maaz in the Pakistan shirt brought him great happiness.
“Today, seeing that same kid, Maaz Sadaqat wearing that Pakistan shirt brings me so much happiness. Alhamdulillah. May this be the beginning of a beautiful journey, InshaAllah,” he stated.
He also sent a message to young people and aspiring cricketers.
“To every young dreamer, whether your dream is to wear the Pakistan shirt one day or to achieve something else in life, never stop believing. Dreams may take time, but with hard work, patience and faith in Allah, so much is possible,” he wrote.
Rizwan congratulated Sahibzada Farhan and the team on their home series win. He ended his message with “Pakistan Zindabad!”
Pakistan sealed the series with a match to spare in the second T20I at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Sri Lanka chose to bowl first, and Pakistan posted 215-3 in their 20 overs. Sadaqat led the way with 96 off 51 balls, hitting six fours and seven sixes, and finished four runs short of his maiden T20I century.
Farhan scored 73 off 44 balls, including four fours and five sixes, for his second successive half-century of the series. Fakhar Zaman made 22 off 17 balls with four boundaries, and Hasan Nawaz finished unbeaten on 19 off nine balls with a four and a six.
Sri Lanka ended on 133-7, 82 runs short of the target.
Off the field, Rizwan is facing an inquiry by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). The agency opened it after Pakistan’s defeat in the second Test against England.
