Multan Sultans Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Gohar Shah has said that Lahore Qalandars are the villain in his own and his team’s story, setting the tone for what he expects to be a multi-year rivalry in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

“Every Superman has his kryptonite, and every hero has a villain. In our story, my team and I are the heroes and our rival, the villain, has appeared in the form of Lahore Qalandars. Now, our goal is not just to win the PSL, but to defeat our rivals as well,” he said in a video shared on the PSL’s official account.

Shah added that this rivalry won’t end in a year. “It will continue for a few years. That’s why our entire planning is focused on one thing: not only becoming the best team, but also making sure we beat our rivals.”

Gohar Shah is the owner of CD Ventures and acquired the majority stake in the franchise after OZ Group, the original buyer, ran into financial difficulties and sold the team before the 11th edition of the league started last month.

Earlier named after Sialkot, the franchise was renamed by Shah to revive Multan Sultans, which former owner Ali Tareen lost after last year’s edition.

The franchise was purchased by OZ Group for PKR 1.85 billion.
