Billionaire businessman and SpaceX founder Elon Musk said Monday that he plans to give SpaceX stock to every child in the United States next year.

“Next year, I will give one of my SpaceX shares to every kid in America,” Musk wrote in a post on X. “This will be the first of many.”

Musk did not disclose details including who would qualify, how the shares would be distributed, how the plan would be funded, or when it would begin.

It is also unclear whether he would use the Trump administration’s “Trump Accounts” initiative or set up a separate structure. The program gives eligible children investment accounts and a $1,000 federal seed deposit if they were born between 2025 and 2028.

A gift to every child in the US would reach roughly 72 million people. At SpaceX’s current share price, that would be worth about $10.5 billion.

Musk founded SpaceX in 2002. It is one of the world’s most valuable private companies, and it runs the Starlink satellite internet service along with launch and spacecraft programs.

SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell and her husband had already pledged SpaceX shares for more than two million children. Musk had not publicly committed his own shares until now.
