Actress Memoona Qudoos has revealed that she not only faced discrimination at the beginning of her career but was also harassed.
Memoona Qudoos recently appeared on New TV’s program Zabardast, where she spoke openly about being the victim of harassment.
"I left my hometown alone at a young age to pursue a career in the entertainment industry, due to which I also faced problems," she disclosed.
"At 22 or 23, I came to another city to pursue an entertainment career, where no one cared about me. Despite being Muslim and belonging to the same country, I was not helped.”
Memoona Qudoos revealed that she was raised by her uncle. "I was very close to him, I always remember the time spent with him. I also regret that my uncle passed away before he saw the rise of my career.”
In response to a question, she said, “At the beginning of my career, actresses were jealous of me, even senior actresses who have become 'aunties' were jealous of me.”
She questioned that the ‘aunties’ should have understood that they couldn't snatch her future.
Without naming anyone, she said, “Actresses of my age were also jealous of me and that I faced many difficulties at the beginning of my career, but despite this, I did not give up.”
She revealed, “I was even harassed at the beginning of my career and when I complained about it, more difficulties were created for me, and the complaint harmed me.”
Speaking on the same issue, Maimona Quddus stated that in a society like Pakistan, almost every working girl faces harassment at some point in her life. "If a girl says that she has not been harassed, she is lying or afraid of someone.”
According to Maimuna Quddus, “Society is built in such a way that girls face harassment.”
