Pakistani actress Nadia Afgan has heaped praise on Mahira Khan for her portrayal of Billo in the drama serial Mitti De Baway.

Nadia reshared an Instagram story that a viewer posted, with a clip from a scene of Mahira portraying the role of Billo. The fan pointed to a dialogue by the character Shahana and Billo’s reaction to it. The fan said that Shahana had made a valid point, but Mahira’s expressions made the moment even more entertaining.

Nadia agreed. “Hahahah.. baat tou sahi ki thi Shahana ny but billo in this scene was superb. kia expressions thy.. kammaaaall [Shahana did make a fair point, but Billo was superb in this scene. What expressions they were… amazing],” she wrote.

Mahira plays Bilqees Bano, popularly known as Billo, in the drama. Wahaj Ali plays Baala opposite her.

Green Entertainment’s drama is set in rural Punjab in the late 1990s. It follows Billo and Baala, whose romance ends in separation when Baala goes to prison on an undisclosed charge. When the story resumes in 2002, Billo has become a “Peerni” (spiritual guide) with a hefty following, while Baala, released from prison, is a feared man.

The serial marks the first television pairing of the two actors and Mahira’s return to television after focusing largely on films.
