Unidentified gunmen shot dead an assistant director of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), Fahad Khan, outside the authority’s office in Hayatabad Phase 5, Peshawar, on Friday.

Police said that the assailants opened fire near the NADRA office in the Hayatabad Police Station area, killing Khan at the scene.

Investigators recovered eight empty shells of a .30-bore pistol from the crime scene.

Police shifted the body to a hospital for a post-mortem examination and launched an investigation into the killing.

Initial reports suggested that personal enmity may have led to the attack. However, police had not officially established the motive behind the shooting.

Khan was the nephew of Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Noor Alam Khan and the late Fareedullah Khan, a former chairman of Mathra tehsil.

Police continue their investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the killing and identify those responsible.
