Actor Nameer Khan recently revealed that he used to work in the IT sector, but decided to switch careers after seeing how much he earned from just one day of working in an advertisement.
In a candid conversation on Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast, Nameer shared some memorable and humorous moments from his life. “I was working as a software engineer when I got the idea to try modeling. I submitted my portfolio to an agency, and after some time, I got an offer for a Coca-Cola ad. Sajal Aly and Momina Mustehsan were also part of it. After that shoot, my mindset completely changed.”
He explained that the earnings from just one advertisement shocked him, especially when compared to his regular IT job. “I compared the income from that one-day shoot to my full-time job and I was stunned. I thought, it is an injustice to software engineers. We work so hard, yet don’t earn that kind of money. And most of all… I actually enjoyed doing it.”
“That’s when I decided this is what I want to do,” he added.
Nameer also recalled a frightening yet funny incident from his days living in Model Town, Lahore. “We used to play late-night cricket with friends. One night, as three of us were getting ready to play, six guys on three bikes showed up.” He said the men demanded mobile phones and wallets, but since they had nothing on them, the robbers beat them up badly before leaving.
“That’s Lahore for you,” Nameer joked. “But Karachi is different, thieves there rob you with respect.”
Speaking about his background, Nameer shared that he is still pursuing his Master’s degree from Canada, and had no plans of acting until this surprising twist in his life. “This industry is truly amazing,” he added. “It’s not just about the money, I found something I genuinely enjoy doing.”
Nameer Khan gained recognition through his versatile performance in the drama Qarz e Jaan with Yumna Zaidi on Hum TV. Currently, he is earning acclaim for his powerful portrayal of Shamrez in Main Manto Nahi Hoon.
