Days after making headlines for a controversial social media post in violation of his contract with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), fast bowler Naseem Shah has indefinitely been ruled out of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) due to injury.
While Rawalpindiz – the franchise Naseem plays for in the PSL – has confirmed the injury, saying it was sustained during the match against Karachi Kings, team management said that the same will keep him out of action for an unknown period of time.
The medical staff is closely monitoring his recovery, the franchise said and expressed hope that the pacer would return during the final stages of the tournament after completing rehabilitation and gaining fitness clearance.
Earlier, team management also said that it stood with Naseem, and continued to support him during his recovery.
The injury comes a week after Naseem Shah landed in hot water for a post on his X account criticising Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz.
The post had prompted the PCB to issue him a show-cause notice, and impose a fine of whopping Rs20 million following disciplinary proceedings.
Naseem had later issued a public apology, stating that the post did not reflect his personal views and had been shared by a member of his management team.
