Actor Nauman Ijaz has responded to a social media user who challenged him over the permissibility of his showbiz earnings, telling the commenter to reflect on their own conduct.
The exchange followed an Instagram video in which Nauman Ijaz shared a message sent to him by a friend. In the video, the actor spoke about how Allah has given humans natural instincts to recognise harm.
“When we pick up something hot, our hand tells us it is hot. When we put something in our mouth, our teeth tell us if it is hard. If something is bitter, our tongue tells us it is bitter. If food is stale or spoiled, our nose tells us that something is wrong,” he said.
“But there is only one thing, halal or haram, that Allah has left for us to decide with His guidance. Do we truly know whether what we are consuming or doing is halal or haram? Even after His clear commands, if we still consume haram, earn haram, or engage in haram actions, then what does that say about us? Should we not be ashamed,” he asked.
The message drew appreciation from many, but one user turned the question back on the actor. “Aap ka kya khayal hai, aap ka jo kaam hai, us ki kamaee halal hai ya haram Nauman sahab (What do you think, Nauman sahab, is the money you earn from your work halal or haram)?” the user wrote.
Nauman Ijaz replied sharply. “Typical mindset… khush raho bhai… kabhi apnay pay bhi nazar dalo,” he wrote.
Nauman Ijaz began his acting career in 1988 and has spent nearly four decades in the industry. He is best known for his roles in Dasht, Mera Saeein, Durr-e-Shahwar, Jackson Heights, Dar Si Jati Hai Sila, O Rangreza, Parizaad and Sang-e-Mah.
He received the President’s Pride of Performance Award in 2012.
