The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a 75 paisa per unit hike in power tariffs under the Fuel Cost Adjustment (FCA) for August 2026.

The regulator notified that the increase applies across all consumer categories, including K-Electric, excluding lifeline users, protected consumers, electric vehicle charging stations and prepaid subscribers.

Power distribution companies and K-Electric will reflect the June fuel charges in the August billing cycle, displaying the adjustment separately based on units used during the relevant month, NEPRA explained.

Bills for August 2026 already dispatched prior to the announcement will carry the adjustment in a later billing cycle, the authority clarified.

Distribution companies and K-Electric must adhere to judicial orders regardless of the instruction, the notification indicated.

The decision follows a public hearing where the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) requested a Rs1.20 per unit hike. CPPA managing director reported that 13.07 billion units were sold in June, with actual generation costs reaching Rs8.91 per unit against a benchmark cost of Rs7.71 per unit due to imported LNG expenses.
