Electricity consumers across Pakistan will pay Rs2.58 more per unit after the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved separate monthly and quarterly tariff adjustments.

The increase includes Rs2.06 per unit under the monthly Fuel Cost Adjustment (FCA) for July 2026 and Rs0.52 per unit under the quarterly adjustment for April to June 2026.

According to a NEPRA notification, the July fuel cost adjustment will add around Rs33 billion to the amount paid by consumers.

The regulator also forwarded its decision on the quarterly adjustment to the federal government. The Rs0.52 per unit charge will apply from September to November 2026 and will also cover K-Electric consumers.

The quarterly adjustment will add another Rs12.67 billion to consumer bills, according to NEPRA.

The monthly fuel cost adjustment will apply to consumers of XWDISCOs (regional power distribution companies in Pakistan that deliver electricity to consumers after taking over operations from WAPDA), except lifeline consumers, electric vehicle charging stations and prepaid electricity consumers who opted for prepaid tariffs.

XWDISCOs and K-Electric will include the July 2026 fuel cost adjustment in consumers’ September 2026 bills, the notification said.

Last month, NEPRA had raised electricity tariffs by Rs0.75 per unit under the monthly fuel cost adjustment for June 2026, citing a variation in fuel charges.
