Silah, the daughter of television host Nida Yasir and actor Yasir Nawaz, has criticised brands and strangers who film her family without permission.
“Being a public figure does not give anyone the right to record us without our consent or post videos of us without permission,” she wrote.
Silah said that almost every brand her family visited filmed her mother without consent, and had one of her worst experiences of the kind at Locate this year.
She said she understands that brands make content for their own pages, but argued that asking for consent should become normal.
Silah also criticised strangers who filmed her family in public. “But when random people are recording us while we’re literally sitting and eating, and then posting it with a derogatory caption, that is something I will not tolerate.”
She added that being in public does not mean people lose their right to privacy or basic respect.
