Actress Nazish Jahangir has spoken up about how she came to accept her stepmother during an appearance on Nadia Khan’s show.

The conversation began with her on-screen role as a stepmother. Jahangir said that she has lived that relationship in real life.

“I have a second mother in my real life. I have a stepmother. I have told this on other shows,” she said.

She pushed back on the way society portrays stepmothers.

“It’s not necessary that all stepmothers are bad. These are stories made up by society,” Jahangir said.

Her father remarried after her mother’s death. Jahangir said her stepmother looks after the whole family.

“She puts in effort, yes, she takes care of my father, so I can’t say stepmothers are bad,” she remarked.

Accepting the relationship took time, she admitted.

“Yes, initially, it took me time to accept the relationship with her. She proved herself. She paved the way to my heart,” Jahangir stated.

Playing the role gave her a new view of what her stepmother went through. She said she even called her with the news.

“The role I played was relatable as well. I used to call my aunty (stepmother) and used to tell her, ‘Now I feel what you have been through,'” she recalled.

Nazish has 1.7 million followers on Instagram. Her dramas include Teri Behisi, Jinzaada, Inam-e-Mohabbat, Ishqa Way, Berukhi, Ghammamdi, Kahin Deep Jalay, Dil Tanha Tanha, Bewafa and Zulm. Fans recently praised her performance in Toota Huwa Dil.
