Pakistan’s fuel supply chain remains uninterrupted dual blockades in the Strait of Hormuz, as cargo movement and oil tanker continue to arrive at Karachi port without disruption.
The Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) tanker MT Sargodha recently completed the unloading of crude oil imported from Fujairah, UAE, at Karachi port.
Two additional PNSC vessels, MT Shalimar and MT Lahore, are also expected to dock with crude oil shipments in the coming hours.
Another tanker, MT Martini, is scheduled to arrive on Monday evening to load excess fuel oil produced locally for onward transport.
Fuel oil is a heavy petroleum product obtained during the refining of crude oil and is mainly used in power plants, industrial heating systems, and marine engines.
Alongside petroleum operations, other vessels such as MT Hafnia Henriette and MT Wan HE have berthed for the loading of naphtha and ethanol, while MT Eva Gold departed after completing ethanol loading.
Port activity remained steady on Sunday, with container handling crossing 60,000 tonnes. Imported cargo made up 58,366 tonnes, while export containers accounted for 2,188 tonnes.
Meanwhile, export operations continued as vessels Hosun, Galaxy, and Liana loaded 611 tonnes of rice for shipment abroad.
Officials said that the combined handling of liquid cargo, dry goods, and bulk shipments at Karachi port reached nearly 80,000 tonnes on Sunday, with 19 more cargo vessels expected to arrive on Monday.
