An 18-year-old student has alleged that he was gang raped after being lured to a residential building in Punjab’s Rahim Yar Khan district, with police registering a criminal case and arresting one of the four named suspects.
According to police, the student was allegedly persuaded to visit the building on the pretext of attending a birthday celebration, where he was allegedly given an intoxicating substance.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) three to four men allegedly raped the student in turn before abandoning him in a semi-conscious state along the bypass road.
Police said passers-by alerted Rescue 1122, which shifted the student to hospital for medical treatment.
The case was registered at City C Division Police Station on the student’s complaint. Police said that investigators have collected evidence from the scene and completed the victim’s medical examination as part of the inquiry.
Police confirmed that they had arrested Hammad Akram a resident of Habib Colony, who was named in the case. Three other named suspects have obtained pre-arrest bail from a court, police added.
The victim’s father alleged that those responsible also attempted to kill his son after the assault. He further claimed that the room where the alleged incident took place was covered in blood.
The investigation remains under way, while further legal action would be taken in light of the evidence collected.
