Pakistan’s off-spinner Sajid Khan has successfully put Pakistan in a position to win the second Test match against Bangladesh after he took eight wickets for 42 runs in one innings in a match that has largely been affected by rain. Pakistan enforced a follow-on after Bangladesh were bowled out for just 87 runs in their first innings and can manage a victory if the visitors bowl out the hosts today. Pakistan declared their first innings at 300.

Sajid, Pakistan’s star bowler, has the fourth best bowling figures by a Pakistan bowler in a Test innings. The other three are: Abdul Qadir (9-56), Sarfaraz Nawaz (9-86) and Yasir Shah (8-41). Cricket statistician, Mazher Arshad, tweeted: “Sajid Khan’s 8-42 – the best bowling figures by an off-spinner in Tests since Muttiah Muralitharan’s 9-51 vs Zimbabwe in Kandy in 2002.”

Pakistan lead the two-Test series 1-0 after winning the first Test against the hosts.
