Pakistan’s men’s hockey team came from 3-1 down to beat South Korea 5-3 in the bronze medal match at the Asian Games in Kakamigahara, Japan.

Pakistan’s first Asian Games hockey medal since the silver at Incheon in 2014 came as Sufyan Khan gave team the lead from a penalty corner in the fourth minute.

Korea then scored three goals through Lee Gangsan in the 12th, Kim YongBok in the 18th and Yang Jihun in the 25th.

Abdul Rehman scored from a penalty corner in the 30th minute to cut the deficit to 3-2 at halftime.

Waheed Rana levelled the match at 3-3 in the 52nd minute. Two minutes later, he put Pakistan ahead with a penalty corner.

Hannan Shahid sealed the win in the 59th minute.

Pakistan reached the bronze medal match after finishing second in Pool B, behind Malaysia.

They won four of their five pool games, scoring 28 goals and conceding eight.

India beat Greenshirts 4-3 in the semi-final on October 1, when Pakistan came back from 3-0 down to level at 3-3 before Abhishek scored the winner in the final minute.

The medal is Pakistan’s tenth of the Games with two silver and eight bronze.
