Pakistan Federation Baseball has hired Japanese coach Kazuto Nonaka as part of the coaching staff for the upcoming Asian Baseball Championship.

The championship will be held in China from September 22 to 28.

According to Federation Secretary Fakhar Ali Shah, talks with Coach Nonaka had been ongoing since last year. He has been working with two talented Pakistani players, Faisal Hayat and Musharraf, during training sessions in Japan since May.

Fakhar Ali Shah said both players will join the national team in China for the championship.

He added that Nonaka's coaching is expected to improve the skills of Pakistani players and strengthen the team’s overall performance.

Kazuto Nonaka's appointment is the second major coaching move in Pakistani baseball this year. Earlier, Alex Khan, a current member of the national team, was named head coach of Pakistan’s U-18 team for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
