The Indian team’s decision came right after light rain came down on Pallekele stadium.

Fears of the match getting a delayed start have been out to rest for now, however, there is still a chance of rain later in the day.

The most thrilling match of the Asia Cup 2023 is just one day away. But Pallekele Stadium might not witness the historic clash as bad weather looms over the city. The match, scheduled for Saturday, September 2, might be washed out as AccuWeather is predicting “light winds and thundery showers.”

Rain is expected from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and also expected periodically throughout the whole day.

In the night time, AccuWeather has predicted 87% chance of heavy rainfall. Meanwhile, another weather predicting website Weather.com also predicts 80% chance of rainfall during the day and a 70% chance at night.

A previous match between the two arch-rivals was also spoiled by rain in the 2019 World Cup. In that match, India was the winner by 89 runs through the Duckworth-Lewis method.

Predictions of rain during the highly anticipated Asia Cup 2023 Pak-India match have come true. Rain has started in Kandy, Sri Lanka.
However the time and date of the match has not been changed by ACC.

“Many people are asking me about the weather in Kandy. Where I’m staying, there’s a drizzle with cloud cover. But you can see that the weather is clearing. The ground is one hour away from here. Maybe, the weather is different there,” said Wasim Akram in a video shared on X (former Twitter).
