Pakistan has joined seven Muslim-majority nations in issuing a joint condemnation holding Israel responsible for recent arson attacks on two mosques in the occupied West Bank. The joint statement was released by the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UAE, Qatar, Indonesia, Egypt, Turkiye, and Pakistan.
Pre-dawn raids on Wednesday saw terrorist Israeli settlers torching the Grand Mosque in Jiljiliya and the Al-Farouq Mosque in Mazari an-Nubani, leaving scorched interiors and Hebrew graffiti reading “vengeance” on the walls.
The foreign ministers lambasted the systematic escalation of settler terrorist violence across the occupied Palestinian territories, explicitly identifying Israel as the occupying, settler-colonial power as legally and morally responsible for the desecration. Condemning the raids in the “strongest terms“, the ministers stated that targeting places of worship constitutes a “clear violation” of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
The joint communique described the targeted arson as a deplorable provocation that fuels regional instability and extremism while systematically undermining international peace efforts.
The ministers urged the global community to uphold its legal obligations to halt settler terror and end the regime’s ongoing impunity. Beyond condemning the immediate violence, the eight nations reaffirmed their absolute support for Palestinian self-determination, demanding the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state based on United Nations resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative to counter the ongoing colonial expansion in the West Bank.
