Pakistan’s U18 Prospect baseball team beat Paraguay 11-0 in the final to win the 18U title at World Comes to the Palm Beaches Powered by Prospect Wire in Palm Beach County, Florida.
The tournament ran from October 21 to 25 at CACTI Park of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach, the spring training home of the Houston Astros and Washington Nationals.
World Comes to Palm Beaches began in 2017. The Palm Beach County Sports Commission says it has drawn athletes from more than 30 countries across six continents. Teams represent their countries in age divisions that include 12U, 15U and 18U, plus an open division for players 18 and older.
The Pakistan Baseball Association North America organised Pakistan’s U18 side. The association also runs U12, U15 and men’s national teams.
The association congratulated the team on social media saying that the result shows how far the program has come. “Our mission is bigger than baseball. It’s about building something special, creating opportunities, and providing a platform for talented Pakistani baseball players to compete at the next level and turn their dreams into reality,” it said.
The association thanked Patrick Anderson, a coach in the St. Louis Cardinals’ Double-A organization, for helping the program build a system and a winning culture. It also thanked its other coaches, the players’ parents and the players.
