Pakistan won their first silver medal at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 after losing to Malaysia 2-0 in the men’s team squash final in Nagoya on Friday.

Ameeshenraj Chandaran gave Malaysia the lead by beating Nasir Iqbal 3-1. Iqbal won the first game 11-8, but Chandaran took the next three, 11-3, 11-6 and 11-4, in 31 minutes.

Ng Eain Yow then clinched the title with a 3-2 win over Noor Zaman in 46 minutes. Ng won the first game 11-8, and Zaman answered with 11-6 and 11-7. Ng took the last two games, 11-4 and 11-5.

The tie ended 2-0, so the third match between Malaysia’s Sanjay Jeeva and Pakistan’s Muhammad Irfan did not take place.

Pakistan reached the final with a 2-0 win over South Korea in the quarter-final and a 2-1 win over Hong Kong in the semi-final. Zaman, Iqbal, Muhammad Ashab Irfan and Asim Khan make up the team.

The same four won silver at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, where they lost the final to India.

Pakistan last won this title in 2010, when they beat Malaysia 2-0 in the final in Guangzhou.

Squash has already given Pakistan two other medals at these Games. Zaman and Ashab Irfan both won bronze in the men’s singles, after Zaman beat Ashab Irfan 3-0 in the bronze-medal match.
