Pakistani celebrities have taken to social media with a wave of reactions after Spain beat Argentina 1-0 in extra-time to win the FIFA World Cup 2026 final at the New York New Jersey Stadium on Sunday night.
Reacting to the match, actor Samar Jafri wrote, “Spain what a game!! Clearly the better side What a domination [sic].”
Singer and actor Aashir Wajahat wrote, “Spain – 22 attempts on goal Argentina – 11 attempted murders.”
Actor Adnan Siddiqui wrote, “Well played, Spain! No offense to Messi and Argentina fans. But today felt like comparing Wi-Fi to Dail-up. And if Argentina had won, Egypt and I would have unfollowed football…. Just for a week.”
Singer Asim Azhar wrote, “messi deserved it argentina did not [sic],” while actor Talha Chahour wrote, “The FIFA’s favourite child didn’t get the favour today. That was fun.”
Actor Sajal Aly wrote, “Dear Messi, Today hurt. It hurt in a raw, physical way that left millions staring at their screens in absolute silence. Thank you for giving us one last ride. Thank you for making us believe that time could be bent to your will. The scoreboard says Spain won, but history will never stop repeating your name. You leave the grandest stage not in defeat, but as the undisputed ruler of the game.”
Comedian Arslan Naseer wrote, “Argentina team final khelnay ayi thi ya dekhnay? [Did the Argentinian team come to play the final or watch it?]”.
Actor Zara Noor Abbas said, “It was written!”
Earlier, the regulation time ended in draw as a lacklustre Argentinian side struggled with zero attempts on goal against over 20 by Spain.
Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez blocked several shots; however, the team’s performance fell short in extra time when Spain settled the tense final through Ferran Torres.
The Barca player scored in the 106th minute off a knock-down from Nico Williams, 13 minutes after Argentina lost Enzo Fernandez to a red card.
