Pakistani oil tankers cross Strait of Hormuz despite Iranian, American blockades

Two Pakistan-flagged oil tankers have crossed the Strait of Hormuz and entered the Persian Gulf, according to sources from the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC), as tensions persist after the Islamabad talks ended without an agreement between US (United States) and Iran.

Sources confirmed that the vessels, Shalamar and Khairpur, passed through the strait without interruption.

Officials stated that the ships are owned by PNSC and operate under the Pakistani flag, adding that no obstruction was reported during their passage.

According to sources, one of the tankers is set to load petroleum products from Mina Alzour port in Kuwait, while Shalamar is headed towards Das Island port in Abu Dhabi.

The development comes after US President Donald Trump had said that the US Navy had been instructed to enforce a blockade in the strait and stop all vessels entering or leaving the area.

He had further stated that ships paying toll to Iran for passage through the strait would not be allowed to cross.

Iranian officials, in response, warned that they retain control over the Strait of Hormuz and stated that any attempt to interfere would be met with a strong response.
