After recording a slight increase in its rank last quarter, Pakistan’s passport has slipped to the 100th position on the Henley Passport Index with visa-free access to 30 countries.

The Henley Passport Index ranks 199 passports across 227 travel destinations, with scores based on the number of destinations accessible without a prior visa. In the current rankings, only Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan sit below Pakistan.

Pakistan’s position has shifted multiple times in recent months. In January, the country climbed to 98th up from 103rd in the last quarter of 2025. By February, Pakistani passport holders had access to 32 destinations, following the reinstatement of Gambia.

The latest May rankings bring that number down to 30, bringing Pakistan’s rank down to 100.

Over the past decade, Pakistan has stayed near the bottom of the index, though its standing has gradually moved upward since 2021.

At the top of the index, Singapore retained first place, with Japan, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) tied for second. Sweden placed third as the highest-ranked European nation.

A dozen European countries, including France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands are tied for fourth, while the United States (US) sits at tenth.

Meanwhile, India’s passport has fallen from 75th earlier this year to 78th in the latest rankings.
