Pakistan has been ranked the seventh most generous country in the world in the World Giving Report 2026, moving up 10 places from its 17th position last year, according to findings shared by the Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP).
The report, published by the UK-based Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), assessed charitable behaviour across 105 countries by examining donations to charities, direct support for people in need, religious giving and civic participation.
According to the report, 83 percent of Pakistanis donated money in some form during the past year. Of those surveyed, 57 percent contributed to charitable organisations, while 59 percent provided direct financial support to individuals or families. Religious giving remained another major channel, with 37 percent reporting contributions through religious means.
The findings also showed that Pakistanis donated an average of 1.9 percent of their income, nearly twice the global average of one percent.
Generosity remains widespread despite economic pressures, with giving levels exceeding those recorded in many countries with higher incomes.
Researchers found that much of Pakistan’s philanthropy takes place through informal channels.
According to the findings, growing confidence in charitable organisations is contributing to increased public participation in philanthropy.
By empowering the philanthropic ecosystem to harness the spirit of giving and fortify the charity sector for more sustainable results, the Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy is dedicated to this transition.
