Pakistan’s Ashab Irfan has secured a bronze medal in the men’s singles squash event at the 2026 Asian Games after losing his semi-final match to India’s Abhay Singh 3-0.
The result marks Pakistan’s third medal of the ongoing Games, with all three being bronze medals so far.
Irfan had reached the semi-final a day earlier by defeating India’s Veer Chotrani 3-1. He dropped the opening game 6-11 before recovering to win the next three games 11-8, 11-3, 11-3. After the match, Irfan shook hands with the Indian players in a show of sportsmanship.
Pakistan has also won bronze medals in women’s cricket and men’s MMA at the 2026 Asian Games.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Noor Zaman has advanced to the men’s singles semi-finals on Friday, after beating Hong Kong’s Leung Chi Hin Henry 3-1 in the quarter-final.
Zaman will face Malaysia’s Eain Yow Ng in the semi-final today. If he wins, he will meet Abhay Singh in the final for the gold medal.
